Invitation to the International Forum
“Week of Efficient Gas Distribution and Utilization”

Dear Colleagues,

Energy saved is energy produced and is often a more affordable and environmentally responsible option to meet the growing energy demand. Efforts to improve energy efficiency and energy saving contribute greatly to lowering the energy intensity of economic development thus strengthening global energy security. Increased energy efficiency and conservation reduce stress on infrastructure and contribute to a healthier environment through decreased emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants.

These particular words open Section III “Enhancing Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving” of the Saint-Petersburg Plan of Action “Global Energy Security” adopted on July 16, 2006 at the G-8 summit.

Efficient use of fuel and energy resources including natural gas becomes one of factors that determine sustainable development of national economies in Russia and other countries. Russian energy saving potential in the gas industry alone is estimated as 100 billion cubic meters per year.

To facilitate practical implementation of these tasks on September 25 – 28, 2007, Gazprom will host in Moscow the International Forum “Week of Efficient Gas Distribution and Utilization”. The Forum will embrace a number of events:

Social, legal, technical and economic aspects of efficient gas distribution and utilization will be discussed at the Forum.

We invite you to Moscow and will do our best to make your work at the Forum comfortable, interesting and useful.
